17 Close-Up Pictures of Flies

Although we’re typically familiar with the common fly around the house, there are actually over 120,000 different species of flies throughout the world. With their ability to reproduce quickly, it’s probably good they have a short lifespan for those who dislike them buzzing around. On the other hand, if you’re able to capture an up-close photo of this insect, you might find the fly to be quite interesting.

At USGS, we have a Flickr page as well which contains nothing but macro bugs. All public domain and free to use: flickr.com/photos/usgsbiml
