A Source of Photography Inspiration

Like pumpkins and red leaves, acorns are autumn beauties. Their shape and texture make them especially interesting for still life photography. And, if you get bored of photographing acorns, just smear them with peanut butter and wait for a mob of squirrels to come by.

Hannah Queen is from Georgia, USA, and her pictures have a touch of that southern sweetness. She loves photographing natural, comfort-rich foods, like fresh fruit and honey with tea. Her homey pictures make you want to live somewhere peaceful, start a garden, or just visit Georgia for a bag of peaches.

Photographer Spencer Brown is known for his incredible long exposure work, capturing the unique southern coastline of the UK. With only two years into the craft, he has made quite a name for himself with his phenomenal black and white portfolio. Smooth transitions of tones dominate his work, and his choice of subjects enhance the timeless, ethereal mood to his images.

I get asked this question from my friends and family at least a few times a week, and typically my answer is always the same…

From a photographer’s perspective, billboards can be either annoying obstructions or fascinating additions to landscape and urban photography.

The incomparable Nicolas Rottiers has the ability to capture the soul of the coastline. His use of long exposures allows him to present an otherworldly viewpoint of water and sky – work that is crisp, colorful, and freshly vibrant. His portfolio is as inspiring as it is entrancing, and I am thrilled to introduce his work to Photography Blogger.

Photographer Romina Bacci lives in Texas, but she’s originally from Argentina and has travelled many times between North and South America. Her series of botanical photos, ‘Miles of Light‘, began as a photographic diary documenting her life on each continent. Her pictures not only express her fascination with nature, but also her desire to connect two distant lands through natural beauty.

I have long been a fan of Ebru Sidar, having found her photography page on deviantART several years ago. Her portraits are mesmerizing, and showed me how creative one can be with the camera.

Kristian Bertel began his photography in 2006, when he was inspired by the people that surrounded him on his journeys. He enjoys taking pictures of people and landscapes, and he finds his inspiration both in the vivid city and in the barren desert. In 2008, Kristian traveled to India, where he traversed four Indian provinces to capture some of these great photos of India.
