A Source of Photography Inspiration

With their colorful robes and bare heads, Buddhist monks are fascinating figures in photography. Their traditional clothing can be especially striking against modern objects and scenery, placing ancient and contemporary ideas side-by-side.

Humans like light. We like being able to see everything around us clearly. However, very often what makes a photograph is not what is there, but what we can’t see. To focus our attention within a single motionless flat image requires some serious magic. Restricted light is dramatic. It’s cinematic. It’s full of life. And it’s a natural way to bring your attention to things you want your viewers to focus on.

Karin A lives in Göteborg, the second largest city in Sweden. Although she has a strong urban side, her photography tends to be peaceful and focused on natural objects and landscapes. Her pictures are soft, bright and colorful, giving you a feeling of tranquility and energy at once.

I was born in Sieradz (Poland) 1967. Photography for the last 25 years has been an important part of my life, but it’s become a true passion few years ago. I’m interested in creative photography – manipulated, but in a measures of reason. I prefer square frames & black and white pictures, but don’t shun colours.

When antlers are viewed alone, without deer, elk or moose in the picture, they can seem surreal, like fragments of a ghost animal. This strangeness, along with their unique shape, can make antlers an especially interesting addition to portraits, still lifes, and pictures with shadows.
