A Source of Photography Inspiration

When men in WWII are thought of, the image that most comes to mind is of soldiers on the beach at Normandy or pilots in B-17 bombers over Germany. But many men worked back at the home front both in military and non-military roles: building the bombers, defending the homeland, and improving the country’s infrastructure so needed to support the war effort.

The Right Path is a fun little photo project by Natalia Rex where her focus is on the path she takes. Natalia’s unique photo perspective captures life just in front of her feet; something everyone can relate to.

Jon Duenas shoots mainly wedding and fashion photography and is based in Portland, Oregon. He prefers film photography and uses a collection of 35mm, medium format, and Polaroid cameras. This traditional method, unconventional for the digital age, gives his pictures a distinctive character.

New Mexico-based photographer Wes Naman invited some friends over to shoot a fun series of Scotch Tape portraits which resulted in some pretty funny photos.

Besides the bright ‘We Can Do It!’ poster of Rosie the Riveter, the women factory workers of World War II are difficult to imagine. It’s easy to think of soldiers and nurses, ever-present in WWII films, but all the women who took up rugged jobs assembling planes or operating machinery are harder to recall.

Justin Short lives in Malmesbury, England with his Westie by the legendary name of Crumpet. He’s a dog with attitude, and like the Golden Retriever Pickles, he has a personal photographer to capture all his stunts and adventures.

Photographer Marcos Minuchin has produced a shocking set of pictures exposing toys for what they really are: desperate, criminal, quirky, courageous, and above all, human. By documenting the secret lives of toys, Marcos shows a side of humanity that can be difficult to capture with real people.
