A Source of Photography Inspiration

An aerial picture can show an amazing perspective that you can’t capture on the ground. Above Photography, based in Australia, specializes in taking these kinds of photos for all types of companies and fields of interest.

As a tribute to their friendship, five friends from California have photographed themselves every five years in the same spot since 1982. The men, now in their late 40s, just recently took their 7th picture in June.

We’ve featured a Lauren Marek series before, and she continues to put together creative projects that are worth sharing. Her latest is called Memories of the Everyday, a personal photography and video project documenting simple moments in her life.

NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity took this panoramic full-circle scene of Mars combining 817 images during a stationary period of 4 months during the recent Martian winter. The photos were taken between December 21st, 2011 and May 8th, 2012 on a northward sloped outcrop, “Greeley Haven.”

On the evening of July 8, 2012, James Clark was on a trip out by Mt. Rainier when a thunderstorm approached. He quickly grabbed his camera from his truck and began shooting the lightning off in the distance.

Camille Seaman has put together an impressive project over the last few years called “The Last Iceberg” which features photos of a handful of icebergs around the polar regions that are currently heading towards their end. She describes them as individuals, almost like family, with each iceberg portraying a different personality and connection to their environment.

Last year we featured Ben Heine, a talented artist/photographer from Belgium, and his Pencil Vs Camera series. Since then, he’s released many more of these great pieces of work, so we’ve put together a part 2 for everyone to enjoy.
