A Source of Photography Inspiration

There’s something regal about Queen Anne’s Lace. The name certainly plays a part; the flower becomes a bit less imperial when it’s called by its other name: Wild Carrot. Often seen by the side of the highway, this bit of lace stands out among the usual refuse and greenery.

Despite being tiny, forget-me-not flowers are striking enough to have legends about them. How did they get their memorable name?

Ferns have existed for over 360 million years. They can be found in fossils and forests all over the world. As a fern grows, its leaves unfurl quickly, day by day the spiral seems to get smaller until it is completely unwound, and the leaf is formed.

Meeting a grizzly (or brown) bear in the wild can be an exhilarating or terrifying experience. Along with the polar bear, the grizzly’s power, combined with a playful attitude makes for a very expressive animal, who takes very charming and awesome pictures.

Antique glass bottles easily strike up curiosity or nostalgia, making them worth keeping even if you don’t always use them. Their interesting shapes and unclear labels can make you wonder what their original purpose was. Were they filled with soda, medicine, wine or perfume?

‘War and Peace’ could have easily been the title of a book about cats and dogs. They’re usually portrayed as enemies, but they’re actually more like ‘frenemies’. They seem to equally love and hate each other, cuddling and fighting in turns.

Bees are objects of wariness to many, and terror to a few, especially when they’re with their hive. But bees can also represent a fast-approaching summer, and delicious honey.

Weimaraners are a dog breed that was originally bred in Germany for the royalty to use in big game hunting. Now they are used as an all purpose gun dog to fetch birds after they have been shot.

Having eyes of different colors is called ‘complete heterochromia’. The phenomenon is most often seen with animals, especially cats and dogs like the Siberian Husky and the Turkish Van or Angora.
