A Source of Photography Inspiration

When cats aren’t cute, they’re eerie. The way they creep about mysteriously, suddenly showing up without a sound, justifies their reputation as spooky, bewitched animals. Sometimes, the only part of a cat you can see is its shadow or silhouette, as it sits by a window, in a tree, or on a rooftop.

Animals are cute–there’s no doubt about that. And they are often at their cutest when they’re absorbed in what they’re eating.

Like yoga, martial arts are partly physical and partly mental/spiritual. Although jump kicks and karate chops look cool (especially in photos), the biggest achievements in martial arts are often more abstract, like staying calm and self-controlled.

Irish Wolfhounds are one of the most interesting looking dog breeds, and with their wiry coats and large stature, they can look very menacing from afar. They are the tallest of dog breeds, and are named for their purpose as opposed to their appearance, since they were primarily used in the hunting of wolves.

Dinosaur skeletons give a sense of awe, partly because of their prehistoric age and partly because they look terrifying. As if their gigantic size wasn’t intimidating enough, museums often add special lighting or sound effects to make the dinosaur seem even more sinister and impressive.

Swimming with dolphins seems to be a popular bucket list item, up there with skydiving and riding in a hot air balloon. With their smiling mouths, laughter and playfulness, dolphins come across as one of the happiest ocean creatures. They’re certainly beautiful, whether face-to-face or just in a photo.

Yoga is a unique mixture of spirituality and exercise, Eastern philosophy and Western popularity, and depending on who’s teaching the yoga class, one side or the other tends to dominate. Yoga is also an interesting meeting point for extreme outdoor enthusiasts and people who’d rather just stay in the city.
