A Source of Photography Inspiration

Katya Horner, also known as ‘Slight Clutter’ in the photography community, works as a freelance photographer in Houston, Texas. She began her photography career at age 35, when she chose to pursue ‘a life of impoverished creativity’ over the potential riches of her MBA degree.

California photographer Renee East takes beautiful pictures of flowers and animals, but she also focuses on something more fanciful: tiny people. Her miniature dioramas are heart-warming and creative, made often with household items like candy or buttons.

Last year, we featured a collection of flower pictures by fashion photographer John Gasca. Now, John has produced another great set of pictures called ‘Shadow Play‘, which focuses on using shadows in black and white portraits.

Stephanie Bracciano is a fine art photographer from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her imaginative photos have a fanciful but slightly dark atmosphere, like Alice in Wonderland or fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. Her sources of artistic inspiration are diverse but share a common mystique.

Michigan photographer Alison Uher of Alison Claire Photography has been obsessively shooting photos since she was seven, when she got her first camera. She’s detail-oriented and uses simple scenes with a few, specific elements to spark complicated emotions.

Katarina and Tomaž are two photography students from Slovenia who own a small shop together called Kitoki. Their combined work tends to focus on minimalism, landscapes, pastel colors, and horizontal lines.

Brazilian photographer Juliana Coutinho has produced a lot of beautiful photos, but her series ‘Little Fingers‘ is especially clever. In it, she’s taken her interest in portrait photography to an unusual place: people’s hands.

Photographer Gal Harpaz has a long-time love for Polaroid cameras. All of his major projects involve Polaroids in some way, including Polaroid panoramas and a series of Polaroids showing his son growing up, stretching over nine years.

Jolanta Żychlińska is a self-taught photographer from Legionowo, Poland, with a beautiful collection of flower and still life pictures. She’s always been passionate about photography, but for a while, she was so busy with work that she forgot about it.

Originally from Germany, photographer Ronya Galka moved to London in the early 90s and has been capturing life on London’s streets ever since. The city inspires and fascinates her.
