A Source of Photography Inspiration

Photographer Giovanna Santinolli lives in Genova, Italy, a city known for its rich history and culture. While there are certainly enough sights in Genova to keep a photographer occupied for months, Giovanna has taken a different route. Using old-fashioned cameras and film, especially of the Polaroid variety, she photographs landscapes, people and objects, giving each a nostalgic hue.

South African photographer Cara-Lee Gevers discovered her passion for photography at age 21, while living in a small town. With enough imagination, she was able to develop her skills and now runs a vibrant freelance business. She’s resourceful and usually builds her own sets, such as this giant bird nest, sometimes taking up to a month to finish them.

Kate Davies is a Cape Town-based working photographer who learned her craft by breaking down and building up every camera she could find. This led to Kate becoming a photographer with an intimate sense of the art and an inclination to experiment. You’ll find a variety of work in her portfolio which includes infrared, documentary, and portrait photography.

Bozhena Puchko is a Russian photographer who specializes in portrait photography, particularly of children. Alongside the usual set of carefree, smiling children’s portraits, Bozhena also portrays a side of youth that is more solemn and reflective.

Gregor Servais is a professional Dutch photographer living in The Hague. He specializes in travel and portrait photography and has been keeping up his business since 1998, doing editorial work for magazines and other clients. His position allows him to interact with prominent Dutch celebrities and politicians in person, creating portraits that capture their distinctive personalities.

Nicholas Bell is a fine art photographer from Knoxville, Tennessee, who specializes in monochromatic photography. The majority of his images are of nature and, in particular, scenes near water or woodlands. He’s inspired by the concept of time, passing and slowing down.

Miki Takahashi is a digital artist and photographer from Tokyo, Japan. Her recent projects have focused on creating layered portraits around distinct themes, such as ‘Smoke’ and ‘Nature’. Using a combination of digital manipulation and double exposure photography, she creates tension between the two realities she’s portraying.

Maiken Bull is a Norwegian photographer studying at the Bilder Nordic School of Photography in Oslo. Though young, she’s already producing some incredible work, especially in the area of portraits.

Before discovering her passion for photography, Jane Heller studied Graphic Design and worked for many years as an Art director. Once she realized her real dream was to be a professional photographer, she took the risk and went back to school. Now, she’s happy doing what she loves.

Kevin van Diest‘s passion for photography began as something small, a mere supplement to his main work as a graphic designer. He experimented with several types of photography until he finally found his niche in street photography.
