A Source of Photography Inspiration

Origami paper boats give a picture a fanciful atmosphere. You can imagine children playing with them and little people sailing in them across puddles or cups of tea. They’re simple to make, but balancing them in water can be tricky.

There’s something regal about Queen Anne’s Lace. The name certainly plays a part; the flower becomes a bit less imperial when it’s called by its other name: Wild Carrot. Often seen by the side of the highway, this bit of lace stands out among the usual refuse and greenery.

Despite being tiny, forget-me-not flowers are striking enough to have legends about them. How did they get their memorable name?

One of the best ways to improve your photography is to look at example photos that other photographers have taken and learn about the settings, light, equipment, composition, and any other special considerations that were used to make that photo. I’ve recently picked up another ebook by Steve Berardi, a talented photographer and blogger, called Examples, a collection of 23 of his images and the stories of how those images were made.

Ferns have existed for over 360 million years. They can be found in fossils and forests all over the world. As a fern grows, its leaves unfurl quickly, day by day the spiral seems to get smaller until it is completely unwound, and the leaf is formed.

Photographer Mike Taylor is from central Maine, which is a perfect location for what he does: nature photography. Although he does studio work as well, his first and foremost interest is photographing nighttime landscapes with stars overhead.

Mary Serantoni is a fine art travel photographer who’s originally from Chicago and now lives in Phoenix. Her portfolio focuses mainly on European street scenes, especially from Italy and France.
