A Source of Photography Inspiration

Just like painters, photographers can use wooden mannequins to inspire their work. Despite not having facial expressions, the mannequins can still communicate a range of human emotions based entirely on their body language, the lighting and, of course, the skill of the photographer.

Lollipops, lollies, or suckers. No matter what you call them, they are pure sticky sweet goodness, especially if you’re a kid. But before you eat the whole thing in one sitting, you may want to take some colorful, yummy pictures to remember it by.

Last year, we featured a collection of flower pictures by fashion photographer John Gasca. Now, John has produced another great set of pictures called ‘Shadow Play‘, which focuses on using shadows in black and white portraits.

Texas is too dry for flowers for most of the year, with the exception of spring. Starting early in the year, Texan fields are filled to the limit with flowers, especially the beloved state flower: the Texas Bluebonnet.

Realistic photos of hot air balloons are impressive and beautiful, but you can also use hot air balloons to create fantastic dream-like photos.

Stephanie Bracciano is a fine art photographer from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her imaginative photos have a fanciful but slightly dark atmosphere, like Alice in Wonderland or fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. Her sources of artistic inspiration are diverse but share a common mystique.

Tire swings are surprisingly versatile photography subjects. Their doughnut shape makes their silhouettes eye-catching, especially in black and white or sunset photos.

Paintbrushes and paint are used most often to create art. Here, through a camera lens, they become their own colorful works of art.

Michigan photographer Alison Uher of Alison Claire Photography has been obsessively shooting photos since she was seven, when she got her first camera. She’s detail-oriented and uses simple scenes with a few, specific elements to spark complicated emotions.

Katarina and Tomaž are two photography students from Slovenia who own a small shop together called Kitoki. Their combined work tends to focus on minimalism, landscapes, pastel colors, and horizontal lines.
